love these definitely in-good-faith questions being asked by these and 500 other news outlets for reasons that have nothing to do with stoking the public’s hatred for trans and gnc people for social media traffic
This is so disgusting for so many reasons, chief among them the negligence a journalist has to display to publish this begging-the-question as “journalism”.
But perhaps even more insidious is the way that a major media outlet like BBC can post a one-word command ( “Debate”) which will undoubtedly compel an audience of millions to fight among themselves without even bothering to click the headline. It’s not something new that the media can manipulate people in this way, and on such a massive scale, but just looking at it in action is gut-wrenching.
Saw this earlier shared seriously by my brother in law, but if you actually read the article… it was a survey of 400 people asked to give Santa a modern spin/redesign him. It’s not as if people are actively campaigning for Santa to be gender-less and the surveyors and these news outlets themselves know that. But are willing to spin any small controversial statement into traffic.
